Leaving Bridgetown and Barbados’s sights behind, we’ll spend a day on the ocean sailing to tiny Canouan, one of the Grenadine islands which form a nation alongside St Vincent. You could enjoy a day at a white-sand beach club, bar or spa at one of the swanky resorts. Alternatively, listen for hummingbirds as you walk up verdant Mount Royal, or roam an extensive coral-reef bay whose lagoon-like stillness is perfect for paddleboarding.
Our next stop is uncrowded Grenada. Wander through spice plantations, swim under waterfalls or dive down to an Underwater Sculpture Park here before we sail on to another petite Grenadine. Just one-and-a-half miles long, Mayreau has little-developed coves and a friendly, authentic vibe. You can do as much or as little as you like, including snorkelling in calm blue waters home to sea turtles.
After we drop anchor in Kingstown, St Vincent, you could stroll through bird-rich botanic gardens or hike to the natural pools of Dark View Falls. Equally dramatic, St Lucia’s Soufrière Bay is guarded by the World Heritage-listed Pitons, two jungly volcanic spires. If you’re fit, join a guided trek up to Gros Piton’s 2619-foot summit. You can also wallow in mud baths at nearby sulphurous hot springs or laze on one last sandy shore.
