Arriving in St Kitts, we’ll be rewarded with more sugar-white fringes, more jungle-swathed crests, more waterfalls – plus, a World Heritage-listed, brilliantly-preserved British fortress and a Scenic Railway ride through sugar-cane fields.
Barbados to Antigua

Sailing west from Bridgetown, we’ll swap Barbados’s bustling capital for somewhere much quieter. Mayreau is the smallest inhabited Grenadine island; its friendly population dwells entirely in a hilltop village. Visitors can snorkel beside sea turtles in lapis-coloured waters or wander little-developed coves.
Up next is chilled-out Grenada. Laze on Grand Anse’s two-mile curve of implausibly-white sand, tour rum distilleries or dive down to the innovative Underwater Sculpture Park before we continue to another Grenadine. Little larger than Mayreau, Canouan has beach-clubs bars and spas in several swanky resorts, plus an extensive coral-reef bay which suits paddleboarding.
Over on St Vincent, whose capital Kingstown boasts a bird-rich botanical garden, island-wide tours combine coves near banana plantations with swimmable waterfall pools. Equally scenic, Saint Lucia is distinguished by two jungly volcanic spires (the Pitons). Though you may get no further than Reduit Beach, a mile of soft golden sand affording watersports galore, rainforest zip-line courses could tempt you inland.
On a day’s journey to the north, keep watch for whales in the ocean ripples. Arriving in St Kitts, we’ll be rewarded with more sugar-white fringes, more jungle-swathed crests, more waterfalls – plus, a World Heritage-listed, brilliantly-preserved British fortress and a Scenic Railway ride through sugar-cane fields. Now blissed out on beauty, our voyage comes to a conclusion in buzzy Antigua.
