Caribbean & Azores Transatlantic

Departing from Barbados and stopping off in stunning St Lucia, you’ll spend almost two weeks crossing the Atlantic like explorers of old. Before reaching Lisbon, you might catch sight of whales in the big blue or tropical crater lakes on the volcanic Azores.

Our transatlantic voyage departs from Bridgetown, a gateway to Barbados’s leafy interior and perfectly-turquoise seas. The first stop – Rodney Bay, on St Lucia’s northwestern coast – sees Reduit Beach’s five miles of white sand lapped by invitingly clear water. Be tempted by jungly zip-line trails or travel to the iconic Pitons, two pointy volcanic peaks.

Leaving the Caribbean behind, spend eight full days at sea. As well as providing ample time to enjoy Golden Horizon’s spa, insightful talks, cooking classes, movie nights and more allows for true relaxation and time-out. Watch for sharks, sunbathe or simply imagine yourself as Captain Cook, charting your square-rigged ship across oceans in search of new lands, new adventures… Land ahoy! That’ll be the remote Azores, an autonomous Portuguese archipelago. A day of scenic sailing will showcase the nine islands’ volcanic spires and world-class whale and dolphin-watching – with gigantic sperm whales common in April.

We’ll then dock at Ponta Delgada so you can go hiking, horse-riding and surfing, or tour bubbling thermal pools and lush, high-sided crater lakes. Another three days at sea deliver us to Portugal’s hilly capital of Lisbon.
