Following some time exploring the sights of Palma, like the striking La Seu cathedral and winding cobbled streets of Casco Antiguo, set off towards Sardinia, the A-List-attracting Italian island. Our destination is the medieval city of Alghero, where you can spend all day people-watching in the centro storico or sun-worshipping on one of the local sandy beaches. In Ajaccio, the capital of Corsica, learn about Napoleon Bonaparte, the famous military and political leader who was born in the city, and soak up the Cote d’Azur vibe before experiencing the real thing.
Over on the south coast of mainland France is the Riviera town of La Lavandou. This former fishing village may not be as famous as its high-profile neighbours, but it is just as beautiful and it has 12 beautiful beaches to choose from. If beaches aren’t your thing, we highly recommend taking a walk up to the flower-adorned Bormes les Mimosas, which is one of the most picturesque villages in France. Before returning to Palma, we’ll call in at Sanary-sur-Mer, a harbourfront town known for its fresh seafood and traditional savoury pancakes known as cade.
