Begin in Lisbon, Portugal’s cool, lively and culture-filled capital. Jump on one of the iconic trams that shuttle their way along vibrant streets, grab a Portuguese tart from one of the famous bakeries and capture shots of those famous tile panels that cover the city.
Spend the day beach hopping from Portimao, the gateway to the breathtaking Algarve, where dramatic sea cliffs shadow golden-sand coves. The next stop is the Spanish settlement of Cadiz. This fascinating city is considered the oldest in the Western world and its history is almost palpable as you wander through its maze-like streets.
You’ll sail through the narrow Strait of Gibraltar as you continue on to the sun-kissed Costa Tropical. Spend a day in Motril, a town that has an incredible setting between the sea and the mountains and a rich sugar-producing past. In the ancient naval port of Cartagena, seek out ancient ruins and take in the views from the iconic Roman Theatre. Then it’s time to sail to the Balearics, a cluster of beautiful Mediterranean islands. Explore tiny and laid-back Formentera from the village of La Savina and head over to bustling Palma on the famous holiday island of Mallorca.
