Departing glitzy Dubai, we sail to its neighbouring Emirate: Abu Dhabi. A more sedate and traditional city, here you’ll find souqs with gold and spice sellers, a spectacular Grand Mosque with the world’s largest carpet and a theme park with the world’s fastest rollercoaster.
Next, we cruise to Oman and dock in the port Khasab on the Musandam Peninsula. This gorgeous, mountainous region has rocky creeks and fjords, best explored by traditional dhow boat, and inland you can explore mountain villages and ancient fortresses.
Muscat, the Omani capital, is our next port of call and here all manner of adventures await, from meeting turtles out in the nearby lagoons or shopping in traditional Arabic souqs. Visit the Sultan’s palace and don’t miss a stroll along the waterfront Corniche.
We’ll then sail back to the UAE to visit little-known Fujairah, a city surrounded by craggy mountains where trails invite intrepid travellers for long, picturesque walks. Nearby, mangrove forests might tempt you to board a kayak and see some of the region’s wildlife. The city’s beach resorts offer a great spot to relax before we end our voyage back in buzzing Dubai.
